Man Seriously Injured in Cartagena After Lift Counterweight Falls on Him

A worker was seriously injured in Cartagena
A man was seriously injured when a lift counterweight fell on him while he was performing an elevator change in Paz Street in Cartagena. The emergency call to the 112 Emergency Coordination Centre of the Murcia Region was made at 14:14 hours.
Details of the accident
According to a witness, the worker was in the process of changing the lift when the counterweight fell on him, trapping him in the pit at a depth of one metre.
Rescue and medical care
Local Police, Firefighters, Rescue and Civil Protection of the Cartagena City Council, as well as medical personnel from 061, were dispatched to the scene. The man had to be rescued and, after being stabilised, was urgently transferred to Santa Lucía Hospital in Cartagena with a serious chest trauma.
Notification to the Labour Safety Institute
The Labour Safety Institute (ISSL) was informed of the incident, and appropriate measures are being taken to investigate the causes of the accident.
