A multi-vehicle crash on the Canteras–La Azohía road (RM-E22) prompted emergency services to respond on Tuesday at around 13:00. Three cars were involved: two collided head-on and a third was impacted on the side.
Members of the Servicio de Extinción de Incendios y Salvamento (SEIS) of Cartagena City Council arrived to extract people trapped in the two vehicles that suffered the frontal collision. Medical teams and the Civil Guard also supported the rescue operations.
Two occupants required evacuation from their vehicles. Emergency crews removed one person through the boot and the other through the driver's door, after which both were taken to hospital for treatment.
Emergency work and road safety
After the rescues, firefighters cleared debris and vehicle parts from the carriageway to restore safety and normal traffic flow along the RM-E22. The coordinated response helped ensure a swift handling of the incident.
No detailed information has been released about the exact condition of the injured or the cause of the crash, which remains under investigation.
