The National Police have arrested two men accused of attempted homicide following a shooting in the Los Dolores neighbourhood of Cartagena. The attack took place shortly after midnight when several people fired from two vehicles at neighbours seated outside their home.
The incident occurred at about 00:30 on 2 September 2025, when at least twelve rounds were fired at three people — two men and a woman — sitting in front of their house. Several rounds hit the victims, causing serious injuries.
Two of the victims, both women, were seriously injured and rushed to a Cartagena hospital: one suffered three gunshot wounds to a leg and the other was hit in the abdomen. Medical teams provided urgent care and their condition was initially described as serious.
Early investigations indicate the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute between two families in the city, a personal disagreement that escalated into firearms violence. Police enquiries led to the identification, location and arrest of two alleged perpetrators.
After being brought before the judicial authority, the detainees were remanded in pre-trial detention and face charges of attempted homicide. The probe remains open as officers seek to locate additional suspects and fully determine the motive and circumstances of the attack.
